Tim Poland grew up in Ohio and now lives and works in the New River Valley near the Blue Ridge Mountains in southwestern Virginia where he is a professor of English at Radford University. He is the author of a novel, The Safety of Deeper Water (Vandalia Press/West Virginia University Press, 2008), Escapee (America House, 2001), a collection of short fiction, and Other Stones, Kinder Temples (Pudding House, 2008), a chapbook of poems. His work has been published in various literary magazines, such as North American Review, Cimarron Review, The Beloit Fiction Journal, Literal Latté, The Furnace Review, Rattle, Main Street Rag, Sow’s Ear Poetry Review, Stickman Review, Appalachian Heritage, and others. He is the recipient of a Plattner/Appalachian Heritage Award (2002), and his work has been included in the Best of the Net anthology (2007) and has also been nominated for a Pushcart Prize.
